Directed by Anja Unger
The roots of the carnival are to be found in the Black Forest of southern Germany. The identity of Villingen was forged through this annual event which has been celebrated for generations. It marks a pause between the end of winter and the beginning of spring. For a whole week, in the medieval setting of the town, music is played night and day, everyone goes out dressed in the costume of their choice and friends come together in a celebration of freedom, joy and pleasure.
